Gritty , Joyful, and hard hitting all while, is the SAXY Maceo Parker. “pass the peas”, “we’re gonna have a funky good time”,” it takes two” . just a few classics out of the fast paced  hit- filled  Maceo Parker show last night under the stars at  Brooklyn Bridge park! While he’s not backing up Prince , Maceo’s  titey tite tite  band including  Rodney “skeet” Curtis on bass ( P-funk and many others) , on guitar, on drums, on keys, has been traveling the world and giving up the funk. When he was James brown’s horn arranger and MD he learned a mountain of skills that keep him killin it today as well as developing his own sound of playing a horn as if it was a drum. I was first introduced to maceo because of Bootsy Collins and  he and Fred Wessely were all over the first deee-lite album and even on stage. He’s wearing the blue suit in the “groove is in the heart video” DJ Spinna warmed up the all ages crowd with those golden rare 45’s . a perfect spring evening. Maceo will  be back  in NYC May 18th at S.O.B.s

I suggest you get his new album :   http://maceoparker.com/
